There are many parallel universes. Three of these Worlds are inhabited by humans. The World of Phenomena was peaceful, until the inhabitants of the other Worlds came. They arrived from the Gateways and they brought knowledge and wisdom to the people of Phenomena. There was prosperous trade between the Worlds of Phenomena, Salem and Belial for many years. However, the philosophies of the people of Salem and the people of Belial differed greatly. War became inevitable and soon a battle covered the World of Phenomena, as it was the middle ground between Salem and Belial.
[edit] Advent of the War
The war brought heavy cost to the innocent civilians of Phenomena, who retaliated against both Worlds. Salem and Belial were unable to sustain two way war efforts and sought higher power. Belial had allies in the form of demonic Daevas. Salem used the angelic Archons as their weapons. Phenomena and its people were desolated in this war. Seeing the heavy cost of the battle Melchizidek, king of Salem, attempted to convince his people that peace was a better alternative. They refused to hear him, and exiled him to Phenomena. There he built a following among the Phenomenites.

The war turned in favor of the Phenomenites under his leadership. They were pushed back into their own respective Worlds. Melchizidek used enough magic energy to seal the Gateways forever. Unfortunately this cost him his life. The Archons and Daevas used in the war still remained, but without their summoners they went into hiding and hibernation. Thus, the First Great War was ended, and eventually forgotten.
